IS THERE ANY PAIN INVOLVED IN THE TREATMENT?

Generally treatments are not painful.  However, surgical procedures may require the use of local anesthetic to freeze the treated area.   If needed, the Chiropodist will provide you with many options to make each treatment as painless as possible.   If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CUSTOM FOOT ORTHTOTICS AND OVER THE COUNTER INSOLES THAT CAN BE PURCHASED IN STORES?

The key word to differentiate between the two insoles is the word “custom”.  Custom foot orthotics are medical devices that are created from a cast of the patient’s feet.  This technique uses plaster cast, in order to capture the patient’s foot profile and to provide medical device that functionally controls foot motion and force.   In addition to the patient’s medical history and foot complaint, there needs to be a gait and biomechanical assessment done in order to prescribe the right custom foot orthotics.  On the other hand, over the counter insoles are not created from the patient’s foot and so do not act a functional controls and so are less expensive.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU NEED CUSTOM FOOT ORTHOTICS OR OVER THE COUNTER INSOLES?

An appointment is necessary in order for the Chiropodist to assess your foot health and address any areas of concern.  Depending on your diagnosis, all options and course of treatment will be discussed.
